Announcement of GAMU competitions for 2023

The rector of Masaryk University announces the GAMU competitions for 2023:

MUNI Award in Science and Humanities (deadline 10/12/2022)
MUNI Award in Science and Humanities JUNIOR (deadline 10/12/2022)
INTERDISCIPLINARY (deadline 15/10/2022)
Career restart (deadline 15/10/2022)
MUNI Scientist (deadline 15/10/2022) - award to a scientist for top results in research, nominated by the vice dean for science and research
HORIZONS (applications can be submitted throughout the year)

Objectives

MUNI Award in Science and Humanities (MASH)

The goal is to bring excellent and successful external scientists to Masaryk University (they have not had a main employment relationship at MU in the last 5 years) on a full-time basis. CZK 5,000,000 per year for 5 years (the budget is not prepared, the amount is allocated in advance). The proposal form contains a CV, a description of the research project, a letter of motivation + declaration of HS on readiness to accept the applicant - via ISEP.

MUNI Award JUNIOR (MASH JUNIOR)

The goal is to create conditions for early achievement of autonomy in research for exceptionally promising researchers shortly after Ph.D. , who have not worked at MU for more than 12 months in the last 36 months. Full time job at MU for 3 years + possible extension by 2 years, 2 million CZK/year. Within 2 years from the start of MASH JUNIOR, the holder must submit an application for an ERC grant to the European Commission or start the implementation of an ERC grant at MU. Form + HS declaration on readiness to accept applicants - via ISEP.

Interdisciplinary research projects (INTERDISCIPLINARY)

The goal is to initiate new interdisciplinary cooperation within MU; generate preliminary results to verify the feasibility of ambitious interdisciplinary projects; prepare the "groundwork" for applications for external grants. Research topics must be interdisciplinary, innovative and those that, as a rule, cannot be supported from other sources and have not yet been addressed at MU. CZK 2 million/year for 3 years. Submitted via ISEP on the form .

Support for the integration of researchers after a career break (Career restart)

The goal is to create conditions for the integration of female and male researchers after career breaks, for example due to parental leave, into research teams at MU. 500 thousand CZK/year for 2 years. Applicant: with PhD, min 0.5 full-time (or PhD study) before career break, min 0.5 full-time at MU after return, author of min one publication in a journal in the first quartile. Submitted via ISEP on the form + statement of the head of the workplace.

International Grants Arrangements (Horizons)

The support is intended for the costs associated with the preparation of extremely prestigious and important projects of international providers (e.g. ERC, HE - also as a partner organization).  Applications via ISEP.
