The public competition of the THETA 2 program is aimed at fulfilling the vision of transformation and modernization of the energy sector.

This goal will be achieved through the support of research, development and innovation projects in the field of energy, which are aimed at improving the management of the energy sector by the public administration, new technologies and system elements with a high potential for rapid application in practice, as well as long-term technological perspectives.

The announcement of this public tender is planned for September 6, 2023.

Objectives

Sub-programme 1 is focused on topics taking into account the fundamental and interconnected trends in energy, which are decarbonization, decentralization, digitalization and democratization, from the point of view of public interest. They will also emphasize interdisciplinary technical areas, i.e. the interaction and connection of energy with other sectors.

Sub-programme 2 is focused on the preparation of technologies and solutions with rapid application in practice. The supported technologies and technological solutions should contribute to the fulfillment of the climate, energy and environmental goals of the Czech Republic, especially in the short and medium term. Support will be concentrated in new and traditional areas in which research and development in the Czech Republic is already at the European and world level or can significantly benefit from competitive advantages.

Sub-programme 3 is aimed at supporting projects preparing technologies and solutions that are at a lower level of technological readiness at the time of the project proposal and for which the results are primarily not expected to be quickly applicable in practice.

PP1: external application guarantor - only central state administration bodies and territorial self-governing units. PP2 - not an application guarantor

Max support intensity: PP1 90%, PP2 60%, PP3 85%
