New types of project opportunities prepared by the Czech Science Foundation:

JUNIOR STAR Projects - Promoting excellence in young researchers from all areas of basic research and competitiveness in ERC challenges.

Postdoc Individual Fellowship Projects - Promoting internationally competitive researchers in basic research from all areas of basic research. Supporting the international experience of Czech scientist and support for the involvement of foreign scientists in Czech institutions.

Objectives

JUNIOR STAR Projects - 25 new projects a year
the topic is chosen by the applicant
evaluation exclusively by foreign experts
the applicant received a Ph.D. no longer than 8 years ago and has a significant international experience
one person only one proposal in this competition and EXPRO competition

The main evaluation criteria:

quality and originality of the project proposal, including the readiness of the applicant to solve the project, the adequacy of costs
the applicant's professional qualifications to achieve the stated goals, to lead a team and to achieve excellence on an international scale
If the applicant resp. the co-applicant succeeds in JUNIOR STAR and in another competition in the same year, he has to choose one project to solve.
One person can receive the JUNIOR STAR project only once.
Changing the investigator will not be possible.

Postdoc Individual Fellowship Projects - 40 new projects a year
the topic is chosen by the applicant
project of one investigator
financial support for two-year stays abroad, including family members
One person can receive a grant only once, if it is terminated early for health reasons, etc., it is possible to apply again.
peer review evaluation - panel system of GA CR and foreign opponents
the applicant received a Ph.D. 4 years before the announcement of the competition
change of the investigator will not be possible

Limitations

JUNIOR STAR projekty
5 mil. CZK/year, for 5 years, 50% workload

Postdoc Individual Fellowship projekty
3 mil. CZK/year, for 2 years, 100% workload


