Objectives

The aim of the MUNI Seminar Series 2026 call is to support academic staff of Masaryk University who wish to invite a distinguished foreign expert or scientist to give a lecture at MU, but lack sufficient financial resources.

The funding is intended to cover costs related to the guest’s visit and lecture, such as travel expenses, accommodation, honorarium, or organizational arrangements. The purpose of the program is to foster international collaboration, enable the exchange of knowledge and experience between Czech and foreign researchers, and encourage interdisciplinary dialogue across faculties and research areas.

At the same time, the initiative seeks to make Masaryk University a meeting place for inspiring figures from the global scientific community and to strengthen its visibility and prestige in the international academic environment.

Limitations

Who can apply:
An employee of Masaryk University (academic or research staff member) with the consent of their faculty or institute.
The application must be approved by the direct supervisor, the Vice-Dean for Research, and the Faculty Secretary.
External collaborators and students are not eligible to apply.

Purpose of support:
The funding is intended to support the visit of a distinguished foreign expert or scientist, who will deliver an interdisciplinary lecture open to the entire MU community.
The goal is to strengthen international cooperation and foster cross-disciplinary discussion across the university.

Financial framework:
Successful applications may receive up to 70,000 CZK to cover travel, accommodation, honorarium, and organizational costs related to the lecture.
Double funding is not allowed, but co-funding (e.g., from faculty sources) is welcome.
All expenses must be eligible under the institutional support scheme (DKRVO).

Timeline:
The support applies to lectures taking place in 2026.

Applicant’s responsibilities:
The applicant is responsible for all organizational, administrative, and logistical arrangements, including communication with the guest, promotion, venue setup, photo/video documentation, and coffee break.
After the event, the applicant must submit a final report including the financial statement, photos, video, and attendance sheet.
