THÉTA 2 Program: Announcement of preliminary parameters of the 4th public competition

The public competition of the THÉTA 2 Program will be focused on fulfilling the vision of transformation and modernization of the energy sector.

Objectives

The competition will be announced in three sub-programmes:

Sub-programme 1 focuses on topics that take into account the basic and interconnected trends in the energy sector, which are decarbonisation, decentralisation, digitalisation and democratisation, from the perspective of public interest. They will also emphasise interdisciplinary technical areas, i.e. the interaction and interconnection of the energy sector with other sectors.

Sub-programme 2 focuses on the preparation of technologies and solutions with rapid application in practice. Supported technologies and technological solutions should contribute to the achievement of the climate, energy and environmental objectives of the Czech Republic, especially in the short and medium term. Support will be concentrated in new and traditional areas in which research and development in the Czech Republic is already at the European and world level or can significantly benefit from competitive advantages.

Sub-programme 3 is focused on supporting projects preparing technologies and solutions that are at a lower level of technological readiness (TRL, typically 3 to 5) at the time of project design and for which rapid practical applicability of the results is not primarily expected.

Call deadline: 21. 10. 2026

Project duration: 12-48 months (SP1 and 2), 36-56 months SP3

Application guarantor-external required only for SP1

Maximum grant per project: SP1 15 million CZK, SP2 and 3 unlimited

Support intensity: SP1 90%, SP2 60%, SP3 85%

Overhead: 25%

A proposal should be prepared in Czech only.
