Martina Roeselová Memorial Fellowship
The fellowship helps young scientists balance competitive scientific work with high-quality care for preschool-aged children.
Objectives
Starting in 2025/2026, the grant is available not only to applicants in the natural sciences but also in the humanities and social sciences.
Stipends are awarded for a single calendar year in the amount of CZK 150,000 and are intended for PhD students and postdoctoral fellows at the beginning of their careers and facing difficult life situations, who are the primary caregivers of preschool-aged children while conducting competitive research at universities or research institutes in the Czech Republic.
The funding is intended to cover childcare services so that grant recipients can successfully continue or return to their studies or research. The funds can be used, for example, to cover the cost of private preschool education, children's playgroups, private babysitting, etc., in situations where the services of state facilities are not accessible. They may also be used for travel with a child to an international conference or research stay.
Limitations
Applicants must be doctoral students or early-career postdoctoral researchers who are the primary caregivers of a preschool-aged child and are actively engaged in scientific work at a university or non-university research institution in the Czech Republic.
Only individuals may apply, not couples.
